Tragedy struck, yesterday, on Anibaba Street in the Ketu area of Lagos when a mobile policeman ran amok and shot one man and male twins dead, and then killed himself. The mobile policeman, identified as Sergeant Steven James was said to be drunk as at the time he committed the despicable act.
According to Sunday Sun, James was attached to a hotel on the said street, to provide security to the patrons of the hospitality facility. Apparently, after drinking, he went over the top and lost mental coordination under the influence of alcohol.
An eyewitness, Alaape Abiodun Aliu, who witnessed the incident, commented on his Facebook wall this way. “I was at the point where the incident occurred this evening. God knows what transpired between those three boys and the Mopol.
He shot the first person.
While the other were watching he shot the other two and then he sprayed bullets as if he was at the war front. He later shot himself.” The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, who confirmed the incident when contacted on the phone. Said: “It actually happened. The officer was drunk and he shot three people and later turned the gun on himself.”
