I’ve been stripped naked – Mother of twins killed by drunken-cop

Seventy-five-year-old Beatrice Oyesolu, the mother of twin brothers shot dead on Saturday by a trigger-happy policeman guarding Paulson Hotel on Anibaba Street, Ketu-Ikosi, Lagos, says the promises her children made to her had been shattered.
The septuagenarian said the children ─ Taiye, a naval officer and Kehinde, an engineer ─ had concluded plans to start building her a house next month before the tragedy struck.
The twin brothers, aged 34, who hailed from Oro, Kwara State, were bachelors.

Court orders Stanbic IBTC to pay customer N4.5bn as compensation

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc to pay a former Group Managing Director of Afribank Nigeria Plc, Patrick Olayele Akinkuotu, and his company, Longterm Global Capital Limited, the sum of N4.5 billion for breach of contract.
The presiding judge, John Tsoho, also ordered Stanbic IBTC and the second defendant in the case, Starcomms Plc, to pay interest of 10 per cent on the judgement sum per annum until the date of final liquidation.

Policeman runs amok in Lagos

Tragedy struck, yesterday, on Anibaba Street in the Ketu area of Lagos when a mobile policeman ran amok and shot one man and male twins dead, and then killed himself. The mobile policeman, identified as Sergeant Steven James was said to be drunk as at the time he committed the despicable act.

Man fatally shot by Police was helping distressed son, Family says


The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the death of a man who was shot by a sheriff’s deputy Monday while struggling with his son over a gun, authorities said.
It happened after a security guard called a 911 call around 8:20 p.m., saying he had been held at gunpoint in a Douglasville mobile home park, the GBI said in a news release. When Douglas County sheriff’s deputies responded to the call, a witness told them a man with a gun was on the next street.
